TamaTown Tama-Go

Released August 2010

The TamaTown Tama-Go is the first of the international "modern" releases. It is a bulkier device that features the ability to link up special figures to unlock new games. Each Tama-Go came with one character, but many others were sold separately. This was the first release to feature swappable faceplates. The first wave (Green, White, and Blue) featured flat clear covers resembling the Tamagotchi Plus Color. The second wave (Black, Pink, and Purple) featured faceted gem-like covers resembling the Tamagotchi iD. Four unreleased shells in metallic colors were shown at Toy Fair 2010.

Unlike its Japanese counterparts, the Tama Go did not feature a color screen, and the West would not see its own color-screen Tamagotchi until the release of the Tamagotchi On.
