In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the original Tamagotchi, Bandai released several waves of classic Tamagotchi toys. They started with the Tamagotchi Chibi/Mini. Functionally, these new releases are identical to their original counterparts, with the only variations being new battery types and several new shell designs.

Kaette Kita! Chibi Tamagotchi, released in April 2017, is the follow-up to the original Chibi Tamagotchi, known as the Tamagotchi Mini in English. This new set of pint-sized Tamas features new characters and features. The first six shell colors released match the original six shells of the P1 when it first launched in Japan in 1996.
